The Magik That is Blue Magik

What is the magic that is Blue Magik and why are people buying into it's magic?

That is a very good question. It could be because of the vibrant blue it turns your morning smoothie bowl. It could be because it's a trend that's started to circulate in the last year or so. But I think what it really comes down to is that people are seeing that it gives them vitality throughout their day-to-day lives. 

Blue Magik will leave you feeling energized and less inflamed, as it provides protein, B vitamins (especially good for all you plant-eaters out there like myself), and serves as an anti-inflammatory. It's aesthetically pleasing and inspires my creativity.

Wait, but what the heck is Blue Magik? 

Blue Magik is an algae. It is the active ingredient in Spirulina (it's forest-green colored parent). I wouldn't focus on the fact that it's an algae...I know that is off-putting sounding, but I promise you it's entirely safe to ingest, and even subtle in flavor. Purchasing the powdered form will give you room to use the Blue Magik in more ways than one.

What do I do with Blue Magik? 

Like I mentioned before, it's subtle in flavor, which can be surprising considering it's not so subtle smell. Try throwing it in your morning smoothie. Try making a thick, beautiful smoothie bowl with it (you can check out my recipe here). I've even seen it combined with lime or lemon juice to create a blue limeade or lemonade. It's best taken alongside something with a stronger flavor (lemons, a sweeter smoothie, etc.) in order for the flavors to balance out.
